This week, Nathan and Eric are thrilled to welcome author and journalist Robert Rorke, whose moving and evocative debut novel Car Trouble is out now by Harper Perennial. Using his own childhood as a jumping off point, Rorke tells the story of Nicky, coming of age in Brooklyn in the 1970’s and coping with an abusive, alcoholic Irish Catholic father spinning out of control. By turns exhilarating and harrowing, Car Trouble is always keenly observed. A veteran television columnist at the New York Post, Rorke tells us about his journalism career and the long road toward getting his first novel published (including the small part played early on by co-host Eric). Rorke is caustic and fun. Enjoy!
Car Trouble is available in bookstores everywhere and on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the author’s website:
