H.E.A.R. is a student group and a program of the Zucker/Goldberg Center for Holocaust Studies at the College of Charleston's Jewish Studies Program. We work on accessible and thoughtful Holocaust education with a focus on Holocaust survivors and their families.

Queer Holocaust History with Dr. Jake Newsome
Dr. Jake Newsome joins Leah and Natalie in discussing LGBTQ+ Holocaust history, social media and the digital age, and present day politics. Dr. Newsome is a public historian and the author of his 2021 book Pink Triangle Legacies. His two websites are Pinktrianglelegacies.org and Wjakenewsome.com

Inscribed in History: Holocaust Torah Scrolls in South Carolina
For H.E.A.R. Their Stories' second episode, we have Grace Shaffer (CofC class of 2023) on to explain a project that she completed recently. Under the advisement of Dr. Chad Gibbs, Grace researched Torah scrolls in the former Czechoslovakia that survived the Holocaust and how they ended up in South Carolina.
