Permission to Be Basic with Toya Gavin Thrive off the Ladder

    • Gründervirksomhet

Where ditching a few bad habits before the end of the year and that includes your habit of perfectionism. Perfectionism keeps us from being great because it forces us to spend all our energy on the anxiety of a project rather than the quality of the project. And that includes your business projects. This week’s guest is Toya Gavin and she’s going to give us permission to be basic.

Toya Gavin is an attorney, coach, and founder of Woke Up Worthy. At Woke Up Worthy, Toya helps women of color transition from the jobs they were trained into the careers they were built for. Toya holds a Juris Doctorate from the George Washington University Law School and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Rutgers University. She is licensed to practice law in New York and New Jersey and is an ICF-certified coach. Toya's work as a coach is informed by numerous teachers, authors, artists, and practitioners, both personal and professional, including her sisters, aunts, husband, and mother.

In this week’s episode, Toya and I talk about how to get rid of internalized oppression and focus on self-compassion. You don’t have to be. At 100% every minute of every day. It’s not sustainable. Slow down, don’t beat yourself up, and let yourself be great,  not perfect.
