176: Jake's Jeff Beck Gig & Future of Modelling

Hi Guys, sincerest apologies that it's been a while. Some of the chat might be 'out of date' somewhat but it's our takes on the goings on at the time. I hope you enjoy as we dive into Jake's all star Jeff Beck tribute gig and everything that came with it. Including the the gear used... which led us into a big ol' chat about guitar modellers, the Neural Amp Modeller and a little bit about the Bad Monkey saga towards the end. Posture, Physical Health & Guitar Tekkers

Ever young vampire Dan has double booked, so the oldies (Beebs, Tom and the Doctor) sit around to complain about ageing, failing bodies and how bad posture may or may not be getting in the way of guitar playing. On a positive note there are some interesting things discovered along the way. The extended Patreon edit includes (amongst other things) a detour into halloween horror movie recommendations.

Incredible work

I had been paying attention to these guys in some capacity for years before discovering this podcast, particularly Jake Willson and Tom Quayle, and I was ecstatic when I discovered that these guys did a podcast together.

Every single one of these guys is well suited for this format; they’re all exceptionally interesting, well spoken, funny, and eloquent. Not that surprising given the fact that our interests converges in other areas too.

I don’t even care what the subject of an episode is, because even though it’s not always what I’m most curious about, I know from experience that there are plenty of tangents that touches on subjects that I’m fascinated by, or that I struggle with, and it almost without fail evolves my thinking on a particular subject.

I’ve heard you guys express that it gets too theory heavy, or too nerdy from time to time. I don’t feel that at all, and I love when you digress and go into that stuff. And every time these guys pick up the guitar to demonstrate something, it’s always amazing.

This review doesn’t do it justice, so please listen to this podcast, and check the guys out separately. It’s some of my best spent time.
