Co-workers share dream of lasting China-Hungary friendship
To mark Hungarian National Day, Chinese and Hungarian staff working on the Hungary section of the CTEC Hungary-Serbia Railway project gathered for a party, where they enjoyed Chinese food and took the chance to get to know each other outside of work. Beyond their professional connection, these co-workers have been developing a familial bond.

Hungarian interpreter builds bridge for China-Hungary cooperation
Falussy Zsuzsi leads the interpreters team for the Hungary section of the CTEC Hungary-Serbia Railway construction project. Her linguistic skills are a crucial asset in helping bridge gaps in cultural understanding and communication between the Hungarian and Chinese workers. Zsuzsi and her team have also developed a special railway engineering dictionary – in Hungarian, Chinese, and English – to overcome the language barrier.

From Naval Academy to Diplomat
Tcheng Ki-Tong, one of the first Naval Academy students to study in France, impressed his supervisor Prosper Giquel so much that he arranged for him to study public law and regulation at Sciences Po. Tcheng later became a diplomat representing the Qing court in Europe. He played a pivotal role in introducing China to Western society.

Naval education forges new chapter in Sino-French bond
In 1877, 30 Chinese naval students traveled to Europe with supervisor Prosper Marie Giquel. Among them, 18 students headed to France, where they received an advanced technical education. Far from home, these students developed a lasting bond with Giquel, a testament to the deep cultural exchanges between China and France.

How Chang Shuhong discovered Dunhuang along the banks of the Seine
A chance encounter in France opened a magical door to art for Chang Shuhong. While strolling along the Seine, he came across an album of paintings at a book stall. It was “The Dunhuang Grottoes” compiled by Frenchman Paul Pelliot. The discovery led to a lifelong relationship with Dunhuang, deep in the desert of Northwest China.
