200 episodes

Growth In Progress is a podcast where best friends Charlotte & Helli catch up for a frank discussion about the things that aren’t usually spoken about. Whether it’s friendship breakups, the reality of quitting a job, maintaining your mental health, figuring out your finances, life not working out how you imagined or just trying to be a better person, knowing where to start can feel uncomfortable and overwhelming. The pressure to get it right is real but there’s comfort in knowing you’re not the only one feeling this way. Tune in each fortnight for an open and honest chat about the realities of early-adulthood and plenty of laughs. Nobody’s perfect, but we are Growth In Progress.

200: Having Hobbies for Pure Enjoyment

200: Having Hobbies for Pure Enjoyment

    IT'S OUR 200TH EPISODE!

We can't believe we've reached this milestone and to celebrate we're expanding the Growth in Progress community with a free Growth in Progress newsletter coming to you every month! We've also created a Patreon to help us continue producing the podcast, so if you'd like to support us there, you can get lots of bonus content by supporting us here - https://patreon.com/GrowthInProgress

This week it feels fitting to discuss something that definitely doesn't get covered enough in adulthood: doing hobbies for the pure enjoyment of them. Not everything has to be motivated by goals, financial gain or social pressure. Social media and hustle culture make us think that the purpose of a hobby is to monetise it or turn it into a business. But not everything needs to become a side hustle, you can and should do something purely for the enjoyment of it - like we do for this podcast!

Enjoyment can and should be just as valid as a motivating factor as anything else, you're allowed to do things just for you and pursue passion projects without pressure.

199: Can You Be Content and Still Have Ambition?

199: Can You Be Content and Still Have Ambition?

Charlotte's heading to Paris and Helena's just arrived in California but we're both baffled by the Kate Middleton conspiracy theories which are taking over the internet right now! But our topic this week is our revisiting of a topic we discussed 80 episodes ago (head back to episode 118 if you're interested). We're chatting about how our ambitions have changed and whether you can be both ambitious and content at the same time - we'd love to hear your thoughts!

Don't miss next week's episode which is our 200TH EPISODE -  and we have a special surprise...

198: Don’t Let Nostalgia Cloud Your Decision

198: Don’t Let Nostalgia Cloud Your Decision

Oh hey, extra episode! No, you haven't gone mad, we had a little *ahem* mishap with uploading so this week you've got the extra episode you should have had last week. Hey, we're all human!

In this episode we're discussing nostalgia and how those pesky rose-tinted glasses can impact the decisions we're making today if we aren't careful. Whether it's thinking you enjoyed something more than you actually did or would do now, or just trying to honour the idea of how your life would be when you were younger, it can add a whole other dimension to decision making. We're discussing why you shouldn't let nostalgia distract you from who you are today and why fundamentally it's ok to change your mind.

We'd love to hear your thoughts on this one!

197: Is Wellness Girly the New Girl Boss?

197: Is Wellness Girly the New Girl Boss?

Helena's preparing for a big life shift and Charlotte has been going through family photos from over a century ago! We're covering a topic we're really excited about this week - is the Wellness Girly trend the new Girl Boss? Girl Boss has been dismantled over recent years but is this new trend helpful, is it a response to the burnout and financial challenges that millennials are experiencing right now, is it exclusionary in its trending aesthetic or is it an empowering movement?

We'd love to hear your thoughts on this one!

196: Staying Consistent & Removing Friction to Make Habits Easier

We're both confused about how January was 3 months long but February has only been 3 days long - but we're back with another episode sharing two podcasts we've been loving recently as well as Helena's new love for Cabybaras and Charlotte's new favourite bag from Uniqlo. This week we're chatting about why habits can feel overwhelming at the start and ways to identify and remove friction to make habits feel easier.
