Welcome to A Frame Apart, the movie podcast from divergent perspectives under one roof. We’re your hosts, Ariel Fisher and Bob Barrow. Ariel’s a film critic and freelance journalist, and Bob’s a screenwriter. Each episode, we’ll take a look at two movies that have some sort of connection. Sometimes that connection will be obvious, and others not so much. On A Frame Apart, we aim to provide a variety of perspectives on cinema, not only from the standpoint of professionals on different sides of the camera, but as fans of media, pop culture enthusiasts, and lovers of cinema. We will speak passionately about subjects near and dear to us through film, and expound upon larger issues that permeate our cinematic culture and how we consume media. From horror to comedy, and everything in between, every great film is just a frame apart.

We're continuing our back to school programming with a look at starting over as an adult: it's Billy Madison versus Patch Adams! In the grand tradition of comparing two films whether that comparison is obvious or not, these felt like the perfect fit for the season! Listen to us talk about how terribly Billy Madison's aged, the concept of it's never too late, and the joyful treasure that is Robin Wiliams basically playing himself in 1970's flare and a lab coat.

As the kiddies are heading back to school, we at A Frame Apart decided it was time to talk about the serious hit on reason and human decency society as a whole has taken of late. To do so, we're taking a look at two legends of American cinema: Inherit the Wind VS To Kill a Mockingbird. From the Scopes Trial to Harper Lee's childhood, we're talking about science versus religion, the pitfalls of hiding behind the Bible, the nobility of Atticus Finch, and the importance of teaching our children and all future generations patience, understanding, and humility. All of this and so much more!
Next week we'll be getting a little sillier! We're still back to school, but as adults. Hey, you're never too old for knowledge! It's Billy Madison VS Patch Adams, two films that couldn't be more tonally opposite that still manage to touch on what it feels like to go back and start from scratch.

Possibly my greatest find of 2017, Ariel and Bob are a joy! Their perspectives, experiences, and love for cinema in all it's weird and wacky forms ground their discussions with interesting and insightful banter. This podcast is a very authentic and alive. Viewpoints are shared, not dictated, explored and explained but not definitive. A must listen-to for people who love films and laughter.
