ABCs of Meditation: D is for DIVING, DIVINE MIND AND DOWNLOAD ABCs of Meditation by Francesca C. Simon

    • Spirituality

Meditation is an exploration into the ocean of your own consciousness — don’t be afraid! Sometimes you just need to dive in! Do you know how comfortable you feel after you have enjoyed a great meal. Don’t you often feel like you want to just stretch out and relax? Don't you normally begin breathing deeply? Maybe for you this is a good time to explore Meditation. Instead of lying down and taking a nap, try sitting in a chair with your feet flat on the floor your palms down on your thighs, and your spine straight. Then just breathe deeply, rhythmically and slowly - - just feel where it leads you.
Meditation does require discipline, dedication and determination. But in the beginning of your exploration into meditation, I am suggesting that you have a playful attitude. Don't you want to make it fun, so you will want to do it again – – soon! ?
Many individuals make the mistake of trying to stop thinking. You cannot eliminate your thoughts. You must learn to simply allow them to swim through your consciousness like fishes in an aquarium. You watch them float by, but you don’t attempt to reach out and touch them to make them stop swimming. You just let them flow on by. You can never eliminate your thoughts. However, once you begin to accept their presence they will seem to fade into the background, freeing you to focus more easily on your breathing. Every day most of us download something -- books, music, videos, movies, etc. But believing believe it or not, meditation will allow you to download information from your own subconscious mind and eventually you will begin to develop the ability to download from the Divine Mind. Scientists like Einstein, musicians like Mozart or Prince or Todd Rundgren, and other geniuses and creative souls have done the same. You can to with practice, patience and persistence.
