#641 - Leatherheads
AKAPAD THE FILM BUFF EPISODE 641
In 2008 Geroge Clooney directed and starred in a period piece that serves within the period that it's presented in, this is a rare feat and a dwindling skill of today's filmmakers. Leatherheads is a goofy fun movie with enough heart and plot to keep you going, not perfect by any means there is still far more to admire and appreciate. The style of comedy may have gone over the heads of the critics back in the day, but this was not the case for Peter A DeLuca AKAPAD because he got what style that is, as a Film Buff should. -
#640 - Mud
Matthew McConaughey comes in with another Oscar-level transformation Mud 2012 directed by Jeff Nicoles is a film that puts you in a place and a life, so much so you want to live where these characters live, smell what they smell, hear what they hear. As the way of life fades for our two main characters Mud and Ellis, we hope it doesn't, we hope everything can go back to the way it was.
Mud also offers another key to what Peter A DeLuca AKAPAD The Film Buff calls the McConaughey comeback series, and MUD rightfully in that title. -
#639 - The Freshman 1925
Harold Lloyd and directors Fred C. Newmeyer and
Sam Taylor introduces a wealth of movie tropes still used to this day. Just because it's a silent movie made in 1925 does not mean it's not influential. So much of what we live in film started here. -
#638 - Don't Worry Darling
Don't Worry Darling got the worst type of press before its release and what was lost was the general audience constructively looking at the film. In a different time the Olivia Wilde directed movie would have grown like wildfire throughout social media. Instead, we are left with AKAPAD THE FILM BUFF to rectify the situation and correct the course.

#637 Semi-Tough
1977's SEMI-TOUGH stars Burt Reynolds and Kris Kristofferson in a football comedy and shows off THE MAN of the sport, but it wants to be a bit more critical of marriage and see;f-help.This style of comedy would never be made today and because of that, we have to pay attention to this film.

#636 - Under The Silver Lake
Neo Noir is the filmmakers' playground and at times it's perfectly fine if it's weird, but if it's weird let it move and have all the right elements this however was missed by many critics. Under the Silver Lake is a fantastic fun movie by David Robert Mitchell that raises real questions about the world of LA and show business.
