In "Hardcore History" journalist and broadcaster Dan Carlin takes his "Martian", unorthodox way of thinking and applies it to the past. Was Alexander the Great as bad a person as Adolf Hitler? What would Apaches with modern weapons be like? Will our modern civilization ever fall like civilizations from past eras? This isn't academic history (and Carlin isn't a historian) but the podcast's unique blend of high drama, masterful narration and Twilight Zone-style twists has entertained millions of listeners.

This is what podcasting should be.
Amazing
Dan’s passion and zeal for historical oddities, events and the experiences of bygone ages make for an informative and extremely listenable podcast. Hardcore History is an engaging and excellent series, Dan (and Ben, if there is a Ben) is without peer as a modern storyteller.
More than addictive
Having listened to all Dan Carlin’s work, several times over, I know many of them virtually by heart. I have gone from simply enjoying the pods to finding comfort in them, and I have to confess that I now find it hard not to sleep at night without having his pieces playing on rotate. Very quietly, in the background, so that when I wake up, rather than thinking about the day to day things that used to keep me awake, I listen to a few minutes and can doze off again. My only problem is that the grand scope episodes take a while to com around.
