    Kia ora and welcome to Design Assembly Conversations. In this series we talk to Aotearoa NZ designers, hear their stories and celebrate their work. I’m Louise and today I’m talking to Donna McCort from Dow Goodfolk.

    Donna McCort is the creative director at Dow Goodfolk, a 25 year young brand design agency based in Auckland. Dow Goodfolk has its roots in packaging design and today runs the full spectrum of design services from strategy to identity and communications through to packaging, digital and spatial design. Donna has been working with Annie Dow, founder and managing director as a tight team with girl power on the fly for over 25 years.

    Following the evening, students were asked to reflect on what they learnt, with some students provided with one-to-one sessions to see first hand the working day to day life of the fast-paced studios.

They were New Zealand’s most internationally awarded design agency in 2019 and Onfire was also voted a Top Ten global design agency by World Brand Society in 2018 and 2019.

    Raul is a designer, strategist and coach that specialises in helping transform organisations and brands to align and connect with their internal and external audiences.

    Raul’s international trajectory has been forged over 27 years working alongside a wide range of commercial and not-for-profit clients in the Asia Pacific, the Americas and Europe.

    He currently runs Freshfish, his boutique design innovation studio –specialised in strategy, branding and business innovation– and leads CO, a global innovation collective. He is also a part-time senior university lecturer and a long-standing member and former Chair of the AUT Communication Design Advisory Committee (Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand).

He is responsible for driving and maintaining the overall creative vision and quality standards of the studio. His work has received numerous awards and he is the 2020 Convenor of Judges - Graphics for The New Zealand Best Design Awards and has judged 2 times previously. Jef has also been a judge for The International Student awards (Taiwan) and The Design and Art Direction awards (D&AD).

Eddy draws on her years of commercial experience in PR and Advertising to use her practiced strategic thinking and ideation to help respond to complex social issues.
