17: Alexa, Comedy, and the Future of AI: Exploring Celebrity Voices and the Challenges of Humor in Technology with standup comedian Hersh Rephun

17: Alexa, Comedy, and the Future of AI: Exploring Celebrity Voices and the Challenges of Humor in Technology with standup comedian Hersh Rephun

Get ready for another exciting episode of the Disruptia Podcast! Hosted by Sam Kamani, this podcast brings together artificial intelligence, cool technology, and lots of laughter. In this episode, Sam is joined by Hersh Rephun, a funny person who does a bunch of different things. They talk about Alexa, the voice assistant, and how some famous celebrities' voices are being taken off.

Sam and Hersh discuss their experiences with voice assistants like Alexa and Siri. They explain how these devices can play music, tell you the time, and even order things for you. But they also admit that these devices are not very smart and often give incorrect answers.

They talk about how Amazon, the company behind Alexa, used to offer celebrity voices for a small fee. You could have your favorite celebrity's voice on your Alexa device. But now, they are taking away those voices and some people want a refund for the money they paid. It's a bit funny because the voices didn't really make a big difference in how Alexa worked.

They imagine what it would be like if the celebrities themselves were talking through Alexa. It would be hilarious if someone like Al Pacino or Donald Trump was the voice of Alexa. But they realize that making it funny is not as easy as it sounds. AI technology, like the one behind Alexa, can't capture the humor and personality that real comedians bring to their jokes.

Sam tells Hersh about a funny experiment he did where he asked an AI to write scripts in the style of famous comedians like Jerry Seinfeld and George Carlin. The AI tried its best, but it couldn't quite capture the surprise and timing that makes those comedians so great.

They also talk about how comedy is different in different parts of the world. In places like India, it's common to have stand-up comedians perform at parties and even weddings. But in the US, it's more common to see comedians at comedy clubs.

They discuss the challenges that comedians face today, with some people being too sensitive and easily offended. They believe that comedians should be able to push boundaries and make jokes that might surprise people. That's what makes comedy fun and thought-provoking.

Sam and Hersh wrap up their conversation by talking about the future of AI and creativity. While AI can be helpful and save time, it can't replace the unique ideas and perspectives that humans bring. They believe that regulations should be in place to protect the work of human creators.

16: Future of Fitness, Hypnosis, Health Apps, insurance & Serial Killer Brands - A Comedic Blend of Tech Trends with guest speaker Hersh Rephun

16: Future of Fitness, Hypnosis, Health Apps, insurance & Serial Killer Brands - A Comedic Blend of Tech Trends with guest speaker Hersh Rephun

On this episode, I'm joined by my friend Hersh Rephun, who's not just a talented storyteller, but also a pro at making people laugh and imitating different voices. Hersh also has skills in writing and public relations, which means he knows how to get people's attention. We dive into a bunch of cool topics, including the influence of technology on health and some funny, wild ideas.

To kick things off, Hersh and I explore the latest health gadgets and apps that can assist people in losing weight. We discuss a particular drug named Ozempic and ponder over how sometimes people prefer easy solutions, like taking a pill, over putting in the hard work of exercising or maintaining a balanced diet.

After that, we toy with a funny idea - could there be an app that hypnotizes us into eating healthier? Is it possible to trick our brains into thinking dog food tastes like delicious steak? It's quite a funny and unexpected concept to consider!

Next, we steer our chat towards a more unusual topic, making jokes about a hypothetical serial killer. We imagine if this character was in the business of selling oranges and discuss the strategies he might use to get people to like him. Surprisingly, these strategies might be similar to how some health and insurance companies try to appeal to their customers.

So, don't hesitate to tune in! We promise a fun-filled episode with plenty of laughter and intriguing insights about technology. And remember, always dare to think differently, and keep a sense of humor as we journey through the exciting future of tech!
