Dare to Be Different and Cultivate Peace
In this episode with Micayla Jean she outs some of her most challenging shadows and what it has meant for her this year to step into her edge a bit more when feeling uncomfortable being seen. She talks about how healing in community has been life-changing and life-giving and the importance of putting ourselves out there in the sun and with other people when we are having tough seasons can truly change the world. Community heals. In a world of so many eyeballs locked in on screens in can be seemingly hard to make friends and find intimate and meaningful community and relationships. In a world of botox, filters and reality TV it can be extremely painful to be with our imperfections when everything our eyes are seeing is seemingly perfection. (It's not). Reminder: everyone has shadows. It's how we become friends with them and how we allow the container of community to hold us in vulnerability and allow ourselves to be seen and see others that can truly change ourselves the world and beyond.
"If we want more peace, we must learn how to cultivate more peace not only within ourselves but within our most intimate relationships." - Micayla Jean

Gift Economy: How Does it Work?
In this episode with Sam Bliss and Adam Wilson we talk about Gift Economy. What if we lived in a world where we were more comfortable giving and receiving gifts as opposed to selling and buying? Both Adam and Sam have not only spent much of their lives researching non market food economy but also living it. In 2020 Adam stopped selling for money as he trust fell into living his life from a place of giving and receiving gifts. Sam and the community of Food Not Bombs in Burlington, VT cook, serve and eat lunch every day for anyone who wants or needs food, no money exchange used. We talk about the difference between something that is "Free" compared to something that is a "Gift" and why it can be so challenging and uncomfortable for humans to receive. From innate worthiness to deep listening and shifting from "what do I want?" to "how can I be of service?" this conversation is sure to expand your mind in a potentially new way. In a world where there is such an imbalance of resources and such a fine line between worthiness and entitlement, how sustainable is "gift economy"?
