Victoria White / two under two, formula feeding, c-section infection, mum guilt, unexpected pregnancy Motherness

    • Parenting

In this episode, I speak to my friend Victoria White, mum to Maxim and Luka. Vic has been through a lot - she and her husband, Mace went through IVF to conceive their son Maxim who was born via emergency c-section at Auckland hospital after a long labour.
Following this, she developed a wound infection and she openly details her experience of this for us. She speaks about how her postpartum recovery affected her physically and mentally and she also speaks frankly about her breastfeeding struggles which she experienced with both of her babies. In this, she talks about coming to terms with the guilt of switching to formula feeding too.
We talk about her unexpected pregnancy with her daughter, Luka when Maxim was just five months old and how she coped with the emotional toll and reconciled the guilt of their close age gap. We cover both babies' NICU stays, as well as the transition from one to two, and how her relationship with Mace was throughout each Fourth Trimester experience.

Vic is nothing short of incredible – she is such a beautiful mother and wife and is someone I admire greatly for how she takes the journey of Motherness in her stride. Always with humour, boundless love and an infectious get-on-with it attitude.

I know you’ll adore her story and have the utmost respect for her perspective and openness, as do I.
