You're not getting a lot of information from your kids when they get home from camp, so let the people leading Jewish learning at Herzl Camp explain how they are helping kids further their Jewish education. Later, we talk to Camp Director Drea Lear with tips on how to make your camper's homecoming and re-entry to the "real world" a little less bumpy for the whole family.

Three years ago, Herzl Camp opened Mickey's Kitchen, a teaching kitchen for kids and staff to learn how to cook and build camaraderie. In the wake of the first specialty week in the kitchen, Mitbach Masters, Rosh Mickey's Mitbach (head of the teaching kitchen) Julie Cohen and cooking instructor Dekel Shetach, talk about the importance of the kitchen, how the program has developed, and the part that food memories play in all of us at camp. 

Camp Director Drea Lear is joined by Assistant Director Simcha Cohen and Staff Life and Development Coordinator Marissa Wizig to talk about some of the things that go into preparing the staff for camp this summer. At about the 21 minute mark, Drea welcomes longtime Herzl Camp parent and volunteer Mindy Stillman, who gives some important tips for navigating the drop off at the Herzl bus. 

How do you know when your child is ready for overnight camp? How do you know when YOU'RE ready for your child to go to overnight camp? Dani and Drea talk about some of the signs to look for, as well as some helpful hints to help ease any potential homesickness.
