There is power and freedom in forgiveness. Holding onto past hurts can be debilitating. At times we may convince ourselves that by holding onto feelings of resentment and bitterness towards another will allow them to feel the pain they caused us in the first place. But the real power that brings change is forgiveness. If you want to impact those that have hurt you,  “Always forgive your enemies – nothing annoys them so much,” says the poet Oscar Wilde.  Forgiveness is redemptive in nature. It not only releases the forgiver, but it potentially can restore the forgiven. Come and join us this Sabbath at Hamilton Central as Pr Jordan shares about "The Power of Forgiveness." 

Raise your hand if you have ever heard a message encouraging the followers of Jesus to love others. You can put your hand down now. It is a message that we often harp on about as Christians, but with good reason.   It's often the very thing we struggle with the most, loving people that are hard to love. The words blessed, bless and blessing are all part of Christian lingo. You hear them everywhere all the time. Blessed: is it possible this word has become so commonplace that we have lost its true meaning? We will trace the theme of Blessing through the Scriptures to discover what it means for us today. We are blessed, but perhaps not in the way you think.

Jesus is a faithful guide for life's journey. He is a leader that knows humanity's struggles and understands our worries.  He is a leader that we can trust, for he has already walked the path ahead. This Sabbath we will be acknowledging that very fact as we witness a baptism.

It may be tempting at times to think that the Bible is old and out of date. Some may question its validity saying, "times have changed since it was written." New questions may even arise seeming to challenge its trustworthiness. Nevertheless, its truths are timeless and its message still speaks to every generation if they will listen. God's love is contagious. It activates a response in the heart of its recipient. God's love invites believers to engage their faith through loving others, not for merit, not for fame, but because they love their Redeemer. To love God means to love your neighbour.
