Well, I did it.  After 10 years I finally upgraded from my 2014 Amber Whiskey Street Glide Special to a 2024 Harley Davidson Street Glide in Whiskey Fire with chrome finishes.  I'm starting to think I have a thing for whiskey.  Anyway, we made a business decision to replace my 2014 with a 2024.  There have been enough changes that we can dig into the 2024 and provide you, the audience, with valuable information.  One such piece of info is our brand new tutorial on the Harley-Davidson Skyline Operating System.  
SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE So if you listen to the podcast you heard me say that I would buy a new Street Glide if the 2024 models have come out with Variable Valve Timing (VVT).  What I learned from Harley engineers is that the VVT motor is extremely smooth and designed to tour.  The downside is it gets tricky to install cams and other motor upgrades.  I may never install a cam, but I want the ability to do so if I choose.  The non-VVT motor is a great base for those of us who want to upgrade our motors in our garages.

It's been a while since I purchased a new bike at a dealership and I learned a few things to share with you.  I was offered something called Theft Protection.  One of the dealerships I was working with automatically added this to my purchase.  It is a clear dab of paint they place on different parts of your bike.  The clear paint contains micro dots with numbers and the paint glows under black light.  As a law enforcement officer (LEO) I can tell you that most LEOs have no idea of this and I can't tell you if this info is in an accessible database.

In this Part 2 of 2 episode, Lurch and I are joined by Oscar and Big Daddy Kane.  We talk about adventure motorcycle riding and dirt bikes.  Oscar and Big Daddy haven't been on a mic in a while and we're glad to have them.  We are street riding centric here at Law Abiding Biker but we are getting deeper in the adventure and dirt riding scene.  
The middle-weight adventure motorcycle market is blowing up.  It seems to be one of the fastest-growing segments of the motorcycle market.  All of the manufacturers are coming out with 600 to 800-cc adventure bikes.  Oscar and Big Daddy Kane are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the new bikes and which ones they prefer.  Lurch and I are still hoping for a middle-weight Harley-Davidson Pan America to come out!

Kyle is the winningest racer in MotoAmerica King of the Baggers history, with 12 total race wins in the 24 events since the start of the series in the 2021 season, plus the 2021 season championship to his credit. And yet he’s hungrier than ever after signing a new two-year contract with Harley-Davidson.
“Riding for the Harley-Davidson factory team has been a dream, and I'm excited to be given the opportunity to continue for two more seasons,” said Kyle Wyman. “We've had a lot of success in the class, but we have come up short on the championship two years in a row. Our goal is to win back the title in 2024 and I look forward to getting started with testing in the coming months.”

James Rispoli, riding for Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson, won two races in the 2023 King of the Baggers season, plus he scored five second place finishes and three third place finishes for second overall in the championship. Rispoli, who was signed to a one-year contract with the factory team, has a long history of racing Harley-Davidson motorcycles dating back to racing an XR750 as a teenager, and earning the nickname “Hogspoli” after winning the American Flat Track Production Twins championship aboard a Latus Motors Racing Harley-Davidson XG750R in 2020. He also won back-to-back AMA Pro Racing Supersport championships in 2011-2012. Rispoli fulfills a lifelong dream by joining the Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle® factory racing team.
“I am stoked to have signed with Harley-Davidson. It has been a dream of mine to be a factory rider ever since I was a little kid,” said James Rispoli. “Taking confidence and consistency paired with the backing of the factory, I know we are going to be a big threat in 2024. I am very excited to get to work.”
Rispoli replaces 2023 factory Harley-Davidson rider Travis Wyman.
