Social Media 06: What Was I Supposed To Be Doing Right Now?

The dishes pile up. The kids run circles around the house. The to-do list is a mile long. Motherhood is full, but too often, we fill our time hunching over our phones, giving our best self to social media instead of looking up at the work in front of us. When we don’t know where to begin, social media feels like a welcome distraction. But when our days are consumed by social media, we might miss the most important things. In this episode, Emily and Laura discuss faithfulness in motherhood, examining the way it impacts our limited time and energy. When we give God first place in our hearts and steward the responsibilities before us, we can use social media as a tool rather than an escape.

Social Media 05: Should I Post this Picture of My Kid?

Social Media 05: Should I Post this Picture of My Kid?

As proud moms, most of us can’t resist sharenting. (Yep, that term is real! If you haven’t heard it before: it just means sharing pictures of our kids online.) Whether we have a small, private account for friends and family or share lifestyle content for thousands of eyes to see, let’s at least ask the question—why are we posting this? What are the rewards? What are the risks? In this episode, Emily and Laura chat through questions to consider the ‘why’ behind our sharenting. While the takeaway will look different for everyone, when the gospel guides our thinking, we’ll share with love and wisdom.

Social Media 04: Influencers Change the World

Social Media 04: Influencers Change the World

“Mom influencers.” How does that term hit? Some of us love them. Some of us roll our eyes at them. Sometimes we do both. But either way, we might not realize how influencers shape our motherhood—the pans we buy, the parenting methods we use, and the pacifiers we purchase. Whether you’re on social media or not, you’ve been influenced! In this special live-recorded episode, Emily and Laura break down the topic of influence and mom-influencer culture, examining the good and the bad. If we’re going to navigate motherhood in a digital age, we need Christ to be our greatest influence. This mini-series is brought to you in part by Crossway, publisher of Bread of

Social Media 03: Please Like Me

Social Media 03: Please Like Me

Let’s get real: we all want to be liked. No matter where we are on the social media spectrum, from a professional content creator on Instagram to an occasional poster for the sake of the grandparents, God’s principles for the way we share content remain the same. In this episode, Emily and Laura walk through questions to consider as we seek to honor God in the things we post online. When we’re known and loved by him, our content won’t be ruled by our desire to be ‘liked’ by others.

Social Media 02: When It Makes You Mad

Social Media 02: When It Makes You Mad

We’ve all been there. We’re innocently scrolling through social media and then we feel a tinge of guilt, anger, or sadness. We get on social media to relax or escape from the world, and find ourselves feeling worse than ever. Cancel culture. Shame. Outrage. Judgement. Where does this all come from? How do we deal with it? In this episode of the podcast, Emily and Laura talk through all the feelings that social media brings up for us and how we process what faithful response looks like online. The only perfect person—Jesus. We won’t feel worse than ever when we spend our days looking at him.

wandering mum ,

Followed me like a bad smell (but in a good way).

I’ve moved to the other side of the world and back again in the last two years. I’ve lived in seven different houses in those past two years, learned a new language, navigated different cultures, churches and relationships, all with a young family in tow.
I was introduced to RM when I was in my first home/church/culture two years ago, and I’ve been listening to Laura, Emily and their guests ever since. If there’s a topic you want some quality Christian input on as a Mum, then you’re bound to find it in the RM archives. More recently I’ve loved following the series these ladies are putting out snd highly recommend them and the plethora of past podcasts to any mum out there.
You will indeed find ‘truth, hope, and laughter,’ here.

ND 1992 ,

Thank you

I’ve been so blessed by Risen Motherhood. A friend from church recommended it and now a whole group of us are reading the book together. I’ve been so encouraged by the gospel-centred, Bible-based conversation in the podcast. Laura and Emily, be encouraged that your work is shaping the lives of mums all the way down at the bottom of the world in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Livynz ,

Such encouragement!

I’m so grateful for the ministry of Risen Motherhood. I am from New Zealand and stumbled across the podcast series. As a Mum of four kids aged 9 and under I’ve so appreciated the way each episode is grounded in the Gospel and is truth filled, relatable and so encouraging.
