Is it really worth getting a job in the industry via social media?

Considering there are other options out there when it comes to screenwriting software packages for writers to choose from, it is a no brainer to not have those options on the list when picking the right tool for the job and the write software package for the screenwriter and or filmmaker.
Also a short touching base on my options to distribute my films and content after choosing to abandon mainstream cinema aspirations.
