    Habit 6: Moving More

    In this Podcast Series on Healthy Habits, I have tried to talk about habits that have been great for me to cultivate in my own life. The kinds of habits that I wish someone had told me to hang onto as a kid and never ever let go of. This week's habit is  the habit of "Moving More"  a habit that I let fall by the wayside for several years while I was raising small children... to my regret. About five years ago I started out on a fresh fitness journey, it has taken me places that I would never ever have imagined. Honestly, the simple habit of moving: going for a walk, a run, a swim... has changed my life... it has opened my world to new adventures and doing things that I never ever dreamed I could do... I little bit every day really does make a difference.

    Habit 4: Fabulous Fun

    When we talk about habits it is so easy to get caught up in all the humdrum of life... we tend to think of habits as restrictive and binding... but the habit of being intentional about taking time to have some fun... is definitely not humdrum. Just having a good laugh with a friend is a massive stress reliever, and so essential for good health. Think of ways that you like having fun, make a list... write them down and get going already!!!

    One of the habits folk generally want to tackle, right at the start of the year, is healthy eating. It is one of those things where most of us know what we should be doing and yet we aren't very good at it. I am going to propose that the reason we would like to eat more healthfully, but don't get it right consistently, is that our reason for eating healthily is not so much about our health but to satisfy what clever marketers want us to be doing. How often do we hear folk say, "I wish I read more." The truth of it is that if we break it down into bitesize bits... a page here and a chapter there, you will find that all the little bits really do add up. And with practise you can turn reading an enjoyable habit.
