SEASON TWO, EPISODE THREE: THE BEAUTY OF THE ORDINARY - RICK YALE @YALERICK QUEER REFLECTIONS

    • TV & Film

Hi all - welcome to Queer Reflections - the podcast where we discuss queer representation in our visual media - past, present and future. Today on the third episode of Season Two, I am joined by Rick Yale (he/him) who is an Actor from Cardiff, South Wales. He has recently been in (@KernowKing_) Edward Rowe's Cornish Language short film MAB HUDEL, which will play at Encounters Film Festival, London Film Festival and other Venues.

"I have always taken a massive interest in Film, Theatre, TV, and the video game industry of the 90's and early 2000's and so it was a natural progression that led to me training to become a professional actor. It was during my time training at drama school (where I came out in my early twenties) where I began to take an active look at queer representation in the media. It has been a continuous journey understanding my identity as an openly gay actor in an ever-changing industry and I have witnessed first-hand how being open about my sexuality has both helped and hindered my career trajectory. That being said, I do take great solace in the fact that the large body of work that I have had as an actor has been working with queer collaborators,  telling queer narratives and adding to the representation of the LGBTQIA community". We get to explore Rick's relationship with queer media, talk about his upbringing and education, through HBO's LOOKING, Queer as Folk, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and more!
