The Book of Psalms, a straigt up reading. This simple reading comes from the King James Version of the Bible, specifically the Revised Version of 1611. I've created this seriesfor those who want to jump right into a straight up reading without a lot of additional comments and commentary. This series is perfect for letting your children listen as they go to bed or for long commutes or trips in the car. Psalm 1

    Psalm 1

    Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the wicked
    nor standeth in the seat of the sinners,
    nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
    But his delight is in the law of the LORD;
    And in his law doth he meditate day and night.
    And he shall be like a tree planted by the streams of water,
    That bringeth forth its fruit in its season,
    Whose leaf also doth not wither;
    And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
    The wicked are not so;
    But are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
    Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgement,
    Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
    For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous:
    But the way of the wicked shall perish.

    Psalm 8

    Psalm 8

    O LORD, Our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
    Who hast set thy glory upon the heavens.
    Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou established strength,
    Because fo thine adversaries, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
    Whe nI consider thy heavens, teh work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
    What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?
    For thou hast made him but little lower than God. And crownest him with glory and honour.
    THou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet:
    All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
    The fowl of the air, and the fish of hte sea, whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
    O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

    Psalm 14

    Psalm 14

    The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.
    They are corrupt, they have done abominable works;
    There is none that doeth good.
    The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men,
    To see if there were any that did understand,
    That did seek after God.
    They are all gone aside; they are together become filthy;
    There is none that doeth good, no, not one.
    Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge?
    Who eat up my people as they eat bread,
    And call not upon the LORD.
    There were they in great fear:
    For God is in the generation of the righteous.
    Ye put to shame the counsel of the poor,
    Because the LORD is his refuge.
    Oh that the salvation of the Israel were come out of Zion!
    When the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people,
    Then shall Jacob rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

    Psalm 23

    Psalm 23

    The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
    He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
    He leadeth me beside the still waters.
    He restoreth my soul:
    He guideth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
    Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I will fear no evil; for thou art with me:
    Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
    Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
    Thou hast anointed my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
    Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
    And I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

    Psalm 30

    Psalm 30

    I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast raised me up,
    And hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.
    O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.
    O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from Sheol:
    Thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
    Sing praise unto the LORD, O ye saints of his,
    And give thanks to his holy name.
    For his anger is but for a moment; in his favor is life:
    Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy cometh in the morning.
    As for me, I said in my prosperity, I shall never be moved.
    Thou LORD, of thy favorhadst made my mountain to stand strong:
    Thou didst hide thy face: I was troubled.
    I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication:
    What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit?
    Shall the dust praise thee? Shall it declarethy truth?
    Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper.
    Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing;
    Thou hast loosed my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness:
    To the end that my glory mat sing praise to thee, and not be silent.
    O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee forever.

    Psalm 87

    Psalm 87

    His foundation is in the holy mountains.
    The LORD loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwerllings of Jacob.
    Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God.
    I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon as among them that know me:
    Behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia; This one was born there.
    Yea, of Zion it shall be said, this one and that one was born in her;
    And the Most High himself shall establish her.
    The LORD shall count, when he writeth up the peoples,
    This one was born there.
    They that sing as well as they that dance shall say,
    All my fountains are in thee.
