Taylor Swift - 2021–present: Re-recordings, Midnights, and the Eras Tour Taylor Swift - Audio Biography

    • History

In the wake of the masters dispute, I took control of my music and embarked on a re-recording journey that shook the industry. Three albums, Fearless (Taylor's Version), Red (Taylor's Version), and Speak Now (Taylor's Version), dominated the charts in 2021 and 2023, marking the first re-recorded albums to claim the Billboard 200's top spot.
Fearless (Taylor's Version) was introduced with "Love Story (Taylor's Version)," making me the second artist, after Dolly Parton, to have both the original and re-recorded versions of a song reach number one on the Hot Country Songs chart. Red (Taylor's Version) featured the epic "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)," which became the longest song ever to top the Hot 100. A Grammy-winning short film accompanied the song, along with my third MTV Video Music Award for Video of the Year. As for Speak Now (Taylor's Version), it continued the trend of chart domination. My upcoming re-recorded album, 1989 (Taylor's Version), is set to release on October 27, 2023. I've already dropped two re-recorded tracks, "Wildest Dreams (Taylor's Version)" and "This Love (Taylor's Version)."
Amidst these re-recordings, my tenth studio album, Midnights, emerged on October 21, 2022. It ventured into chill-out music and earned rave reviews, with Rolling Stone critics hailing it as an instant classic. Midnights became my fifth album to debut atop the Billboard 200, amassing over one million first-week sales.
The album shattered various sales and streaming records, including the most U.S. first-week vinyl sales and unprecedented streaming milestones on Spotify. Its singles, led by "Anti-Hero," took over the entire Hot 100's top 10, solidifying my position as the first artist to achieve this feat. "Lavender Haze" and "Karma" also soared to number two on the Hot 100.
To support Midnights and my entire discography, I embarked on the Eras Tour in March 2023. The tour garnered immense attention for its cultural and economic influence. The U.S. leg notably broke the record for the most tickets sold in a single day. However, Ticketmaster faced criticism for their ticket sales management and alleged industry monopoly.Apart from my albums, I collaborated on five songs from 2021 to 2023, including tracks with Big Red Machine, Haim, Ed Sheeran, and the National. I also contributed "Carolina" to the soundtrack of the 2022 film Where the Crawdads Sing, earning nominations at the Golden Globes and Grammy Awards for Best Original Song and Best Song Written for Visual Media.
My music, touring, and other ventures propelled me to unprecedented post-pandemic popularity. I received the Songwriter Icon Award from the National Music Publishers' Association. Beyond music, I made appearances in the 2022 period comedy Amsterdam and took on the role of directing a feature film under Searchlight Pictures.
My journey continues, marked by records broken, creative pursuits, and a newfound global career success. As Music Business Worldwide noted, I've reached a new stratosphere of accomplishment, forever evolving and reaching new heights.
