Why Porn Is Not An Addiction with Dr. Cameron Staley

Why Porn Is Not An Addiction with Dr. Cameron Staley

Porn is one of the most common traps for men to fall into. Many of us think it's harmless but the fact of the matter is porn use will steal the number one precious commodity in our life and that is our time. My guest today gives us a deep dive into the emotional and psychological impact that porn has on our brain, our lives, relationships, and even productivity.
A passionate and faithful promoter of mental health, Dr. Cameron Staley is a clinical psychologist dedicated to counseling and teaching psychology courses. Creator of the “Life After” series where he helps people improve their mental health by learning about the therapeutic approaches and research available.
He gave a TEDx talk, Changing the Narrative Around the Addiction Story, where he shared the details of his research and counseling experience on helpful ways to talk about sexuality and how to effectively reduce the viewing of unwanted pornography through mindfulness. He developed a self-directed online program called Life After Pornography, which is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) concepts.
He co-authored a chapter on Personality Disorders for an Abnormal Psychology textbook and has published several research studies on sexuality.

Taking Charge of Your Finances with Sam Dogen

Taking Charge of Your Finances with Sam Dogen

28% of Americans don't have any savings to cover bills in case of emergencies. And another 21% said they had some money saved up, but not enough to cover even three months of expenses if needed. Being a husband and father means that we are the providers for our families. My guest shares simple and effective strategies to lower our financial stress, save for emergencies and how to work together as a team with our wives to create a financial future that we can feel good about.
In 2009, Sam Dogen founded Financial Samurai, one of the top independently owned personal finance sites today with over 1 million organic visitors a month.
During the middle of the financial crisis in 2009, he began Financial Samurai to help make sense of the financial crisis. He had been working in finance for 10 years and thought he had been doing all the right things with my money – saving 50%+, diversifying into real estate, maxing out my 401(k), etc. Yet, he still lost about 35% of my net worth within a matter of six months. It was a humbling experience.
On the bright side, the financial crisis made him realize that he no longer wanted to work in the financial services industry. He lost the hunger to make lots of money and climb the corporate ladder after 13 years in the business. Instead, the downturn focused his attention on something he really enjoyed doing: writing and connecting with others online.
He found himself addicted to Financial Samurai before work, during his lunch break, and after work. He was having so much fun! Therefore, in the Fall of 2011, he came up with the idea of negotiating a severance to be free from work for good.
Sam has been married for 14 years and is the father of 2 kids.

Unlocking Your Resilience Through Faith with Daniel Fusco

Unlocking Your Resilience Through Faith with Daniel Fusco

We all experience times of fear, worrying, suffering, and stress through life. Sometimes it can last a day, weeks, months, seasons, or even years. But the bottom line is life was never meant to be easy or joyful at all times.
However, we can shorten these tough times in our lives by becoming more resilient today, my guest shares from a faith based lens on how we can become more emotionally and spiritually resilient, even when it seems impossible.
Daniel Fusco grew up in a nominal Catholic family, and never heard much about Jesus. Because of faithful people sharing with him the truth about who Jesus is, he came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ in 1998 while he was in his last year at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.
He employs what some describe as a unique style of teaching. He likes to take the timeless truths of Scripture and make them easily accessible and applicable for men and women of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures. He also gets to host the Real. with Daniel Fusco TV show and the Jesus is Real Radio Ministry, featuring messages on TV and radio stations across the country.
He loves to write and is a featured contributor to “Preaching Today,” and has published articles with Leadership Journal, pastors.com, and Calvarychapel.com. He’s written three books, Ahead of the Curve, (self-published), Honestly, Getting Real About Jesus and our Messy Lives, and Upward, Inward, and Outward, Love God, Love Yourself, Love Others (both published by NavPress). All books are available at Amazon.com.
He has taught at churches, retreats, youth rallies, leadership seminars, seminaries, college campuses, and pastor’s conferences both in the States and abroad.
He is married to Lynn. They live with their three children and a crazy dog in Southwest Washington.

How to Overcome the Busyness of Life with Sal Frisella

Busy is a four letter word that is very familiar to men, husbands and fathers, especially when it comes to our professions and careers. It's not only our careers that keep us busy, but also all the demands of life. Many of us have the perception that we just don't have the time to live the life we truly want, create the marriage that we ultimately desire and have the connection with our kids that we truly want today.
My legendary guest gives us specific strategies on how we can overcome the busyness of life, be insanely effective with our time, create the marriage we have always wanted and be the dads our kids deserve.
