Ep 10. The Reality of Being a Single Mom (with Bre Dusome)

Ep 10. The Reality of Being a Single Mom (with Bre Dusome)

Today, Bre Dusome joins us to talk about her experience moving across the country, 32 weeks pregnant, and starting her life as a single month is a different city.

For the first time, she’s sharing talking about:

Escaping a toxic relationship Uprooting her life and moving across the country
    Dating as a single mom
    Finding love again
    Raising a newborn without support

    A bit about Bre:

Social worker, Bre Dusome, never thought she’d be a single mother. At 34 weeks pregnant, she left a toxic relationship and the west coast, and delivered my sweet girl with my mom and a friend. The nights were long, the days were longer. Dating with a newborn was weird. Often in the thick of it, she wondered why is this my life? She felt lonely, overwhelmed and ashamed, as if being a single mom meant that she didn’t fit the mould of what a normal parent should be. Her and her daughter were a mommy daughter team from the moment she found out she was pregnant. She knew that she would protect her and sacrifice anything for her.

Ep 9. My Breastfeeding Journey: The Highs & Lows

Ep 9. My Breastfeeding Journey: The Highs & Lows

My breastfeeding journey has been an interesting one (like a lot of us!), and I’ve thought a lot about how I wanted to share my story.

    Should I:

    • Interview lactation consultants
    • Chat with people who love formula
    • Share it in a blog post or Instagram post
    • Chat about it in a podcast
    • Share at all? Or should I keep it private?

What I ultimately decided was that the best and most honest way that I can tell this story is just by sharing my experience, from my perspective.

And since this was actually one of the few topics that I didn't feel comfortable talking about for a long time, I have never shared details of this story before.

So here it is, from start to finish...a conversation through the podcast about my journey through breastfeeding, and then ultimately, exclusively breastfeeding both children.

So, this week, I chat with pelvic floor physiotherapist, Rachel Selman all about:

What exactly happens at pelvic floor physio?
Should people feel uncomfortable or awkward?
What do you think when she see somebody’s vagina?
Should people go to a pelvic floor physio while pregnant?
How soon should people go after delivering?
Is there a difference between vaginal birth and caesarian?
What are the most common issues she sees?

If you’d like to reach out to Rachel, message her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/BMPTColumbusNorth
