In this joint episode, we discuss different perspectives on the role of the Architect, and how the education system currently serves those entering the industry from diverse backgrounds, and how entrepreneurship can allow the profession to transform in a shifting economy.

Adewole Ademolake BSc (Hons) MSc MRICS is the founder of A’Lake, A’Lake Dreaming and The Property Development Book Club. He is a qualified planning and development surveyor by night and a proud husband and father to beautifu daughters by night. Adewole’s journey  started as a BTEC in Construction in 2004 managing multi-million pound mixed development schemes. Fast forward eleven years, Adewole is now the Director and founder of property development company, A’Lake. With his wealth of experience and knowledge, Adewole is also an avid blogger who writes about his experiences aimed to help the younger generation www.alakedreaming.com. He also founded a collective called the Property Development Book Club which brings together property development professionals to discuss multidisciplinary topics. In this episode, Adewole talks to us about his experience in industry and whether or not he thinks we need architects!

As Black History Month comes to an end today we will be discussing a key issue that occurs in practice and pretty much everywhere to be honest and that’s  microaggressions and I definitely know we have stories to tell for sure! We will be tapping into recognising them and how one should  overcome their biases.

Is generational wealth a deciding factor for the progression of your career? Or are Architects just bad at business? We’re Joined by Part 2 Architectural Designer, Bola Lasisi-Agiri who will help us level the steep hill of the graduate salary.

Bola Lasisi-Agiri is a creative multi-disciplinary designer who is an advocate for working with the community and using emerging technological advancements as part of the participatory design process. He won the Bond Bryan Prize for the best integration of technology and environmental strategies within architectural design at undergraduate level and is working at the renowned international practice, Foster + Partners while undertaking an apprenticeship at Oxford Brookes University. Bola is currently the Director for Tamed Designs and Architectural Assistant at Fosters and Partners.
