With teams deciding which minor leaguers they are willing to expose to the Rule 5 Draft in early December, it is a good time to hear from one player who might be living that life - Mets pitching prospect Mike Vasil. Vasil spent the entire season in Triple-A in 2024 after going to the Futures Game the year before. It is a worthy exercise considering players like Vasil often ultimately made a difference on a team's big league roster after being selected - as was evidenced by Justin Slaten, Ryan Fernandez and Mitch Spence.
