Need board support? Dominique Hes says getting outside support is a game changer Take on Board

    • Profesiones

Today on the Take on Board podcast, I’m speaking with Dr. Dominique Hes about engaging external company secretary services to support a board.
Dominique is the Chair of Greenfleet and was formerly on the boards of Living Futures Institute of Australia (LFIA), Trust for Nature in Victoria.

Dominique has a Science Degree, Engineering Degree, PhD in Architecture and a Cert in Governance. She was born in south Africa of Dutch Parents, lived in Brazil until 1982 then moved to Australia.
She’s written a bunch of books – including award winning Designing for Hope: pathways to regenerative sustainability. Given you're listening to this, you might also want to know that there’s a podcast on her latest book which I am working on based on the history of Newport Lakes can be found here.

She’s an enthusiastic member of the Take on Board community having been to loads of events and programs and she’s been on the pod already not once, not twice but three times – and on some of the most listened to episodes as we did on air strategy sessions about doing your board resume, preparing for a board interview and then preparing to join the board.
Dominique's external board and CoSec services brief:
1. Your organisational information – ABN, Charity Status, strategy, vision, etc
2. Your board information – meetings, how long for, committees, governance etc. (in follow up emails sending an example agenda and other information is useful)
3. Outline of key things you need help with:
- Minutes, Agendas, Papers
- Board workshop or Risk review
- Compliance review and reporting
- Alignment of board and committee processes
- Board needs
- Board exec liaison
