79th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz (ft. Barry Lituchy) - PSMLS Class
The PSMLS presents a class on the 79th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz, featuring Professor Barry Lituchy, Director of the Jasenovac Research Institute.
The Jasenovac Research Institute was founded on the belief that the failure to learn the lessons of the genocide committed against Serbs, Jews and Gypsies during the Second World War rests at the very core of recent events in the Balkans.

80th Anniversary of the Victory at Leningrad - PSMLS Class
January 27th, 2024 marks 80 years since the infamous Siege of Leningrad came to an end with a Soviet victory that foreshadowed the ultimate Nazi defeat. As we have done before with the 80th Anniversaries of famous parts of the Great Patriotic War such as the Victory at Stalingrad, Battle of Kursk and Liberation of Ukraine, we will hold a class to study this siege and honor those who fought to hold off the fascists from Leningrad for nearly 900 days. Over 1.5 million people lost their lives during this siege. We will be using the “Siege of Leningrad” film from the Soviet Film Archive project of US Friends of the Soviet People for parts of the class.

History of US Imperialism: Rise of American Unipolarity
This class is our next installment in this series on the history of U.S. imperialism. With the last class leaving us at the end of the Cold War and the counter-revolution in the Soviet Union, we will now cover the subsequent rise of American unipolarity. This class spans from 1991-2005. First we will address the counter-revolution in the USSR and counter-revolutions across the world at the beginning of the 1990’s, as well as US/NATO intervention in Iraq, Kuwait, Bosnia and more during the decade. The second section will cover the September 11th terrorist attacks and the beginning of the so-called “War on Terror” with the launch of invasions in Afghanistan and Iraq as well as expanded intervention abroad. Lastly we will address the domestic and trade issues of the time, such as NAFTA, the PATRIOT ACT, the Democratic Party change under Clinton and more.
