Ever wondered what it would be like to travel the world in a single-engine plane?
Well, in today's episode, I sit down with Sam Porter – a 22-year-old private pilot from Vancouver, Canada, who has spent the last 8 months doing exactly that. Her family (@fly5inthesky) has set a massive goal of flying around the world in their single-engine GA8 AirVan, travelling to over 50 countries in 14 months.
In this episode, we dive into:
A day in the life of travelling in a single-engine plane
How to pack for a worldwide expedition (with only 9kg per person!)
Sam shares some of her best and worst experiences from travelling to over 20 countries so far
How to navigate medical emergencies as a full-time traveller ...and much more!
It is said that “less people have flown around the world in a single-engine plane than have summited mount Everest”, and it's hard to say if there even has been a family that has done it all together, completely VFR and with no autopilot.
Be sure to follow along the journey over at @fly5inthesky and you can connect with sam @samanthaporter
