A Philosopher Looks at the Religious Life: Dr. Zena Hitz Theology Re-Examined

    • Cristianismo

In this episode of Theology Re-Examined, I sit down with Dr. Zena Hitz to discuss her newest book, "A Philosopher Looks at the Religious Life", where she discusses her experience of going to live in a religious community for three years amongst monks, nuns, friars, ect.

The monastic lifestyle taught Zena many things, all of which she wants to share with us. In our conversation, we talk about why she chose to live this lifestyle, the type of commitment it takes, what her daily life was like, internet and phone restrictions, what she carried into her normal life, and her unique perspective as a philosopher.

Bio: Dr. Zena Hitz is a tutor at St. John's College in Annapolis, MD. She is the author of Lost in Thought: The Hidden Pleasures of an Intellectual Life; and A Philosopher Looks at the Religious Life. Miss Hitz is a graduate of St. John's College, Cambridge University, and Princeton University. She has taught Philosophy at McGill University, Auburn University, and UMBC.
