Part two. Our continued burble on the topic of Scorsese’s short films!

For this episode, we take a deep dive into the short films of iconic director Martin Scorsese. These films were made in the period 1963-1978, so span Scorsese’s ascent from film student to stardom, and they are all very experimental, silly and brilliant. Enjoy part one! Our fourth episode is about Ted Kotcheff’s outback fever dream, ‘Wake in Fright’ (1971). Supposedly a film that set back Australian tourism by 25 years, ‘Wake in Fright’ is full of beer, sweat, kangaroos, and men. Lots and LOTS of men. Enjoy! After our (extremely) long hiatus, we are back and we’re bad! This week’s episode is on Han Hyeong-mo’s ‘Madame Freedom’ (1956), dubbed as both South Korea first blockbuster & “the most controversial film in korean cinematic history”.
