Joanna Hausmann: Comedian, Writer, & Actor Oh Here We Go

    • Sociedad y cultura

This week we are bringing on Joanna Hausmann, a Venezuelan-American comedian, writer, and actor.  Joanna started out on Youtube as “Joanna Rants” making comedy videos about her Venezuelan heritage, which have now accumulated over 7- million views. From that, she is now the head writer on Disney’s "Hamster & Gretel" as well as projects on HBO Max. Joanna shares her journey, her insights in the industry, her “hidden path up the mountain, through some thorns," of course…a lot of jokes.
In this episode we discuss:
Being a comedian: writer, actor, director, producer, etc. Being the funniest in the hardest times Comedy schools: Training to be funnier The importance of authenticity: no one cares if you’re not authentic What makes a project “bad?” Being the head writer on a Disney show The creator of Disney’s Phineas and Ferb offering her the head writing job Punching up VS Punching down 90’s/early 2000’s comedy VS comedy now Is comedy getting better? “Being in the 97%” (failing 97% & succeeding 3%)
