Thanks for checking out our podcast! We look at fringe topics often neglected, or ill discussed, in a light hearted and open manner. These topics run the gambit from the mundane water pollution, recycling, and tax evasion to the fantastical moth persons, time travellers, and paranormal. For us there’s no cryptid too creepy, topic too trivial, or djinn to dreary. Also we like to do exposes on a******s of the UFO community. To keep things fresh (and also because we aren’t really sure how to start podcasts) we start every week off with a Fringey Mini recent news article and discussion (It’s the podcast equivalent of not knowing what to do with your hands). And as we say in our intro from the unexplained to the mundane, join us on our journey to the fringe.

What's in a plane: the John Lear story (Part 1 of 2)

What's in a plane: the John Lear story (Part 1 of 2)

Let’s delve into the fascinating life of John Olsen Lear, a man whose journey took him from aviation records to UFO conspiracy theories.
Episode Title: “From Skies to Secrets: The John Lear Story”
Introduction: John Olsen Lear (1942–2022) was more than just an aviator; he became a central figure in UFO conspiracy theories during the 1980s. Born into a family with aviation roots, Lear’s life took unexpected twists that led him to explore the mysteries of extraterrestrial encounters.
    Early Life and Aviation Career:
John Lear was born on December 3, 1942, to industrialist Bill Lear (founder of Learjet) and his wife, Moya Marie Olsen Lear1.
His early years were marked by privilege and curiosity. Named after his maternal grandfather, famous comedian John Olsen, Lear’s upbringing was anything but ordinary.
At the age of 14, he flew his first flight, and by 16, he completed his first solo flight. Lear’s passion for aviation was evident from an early age.
In 1960, he joined his father’s company as a pilot and public relations representative. However, a biplane crash during stunt flying at his boarding school left him with lasting physical scars and a renewed sense of purpose1.
Despite estrangement from his father, Lear continued to make aviation history. In 1966, he and a crewmate circumnavigated the globe in a LearJet, covering 22,000 miles in just 50 hours and 39 minutes1.
His daring feats caught the attention of the rock band The Byrds, who immortalized Lear’s LearJet in their song "2-4-2 Foxtrot (The Lear Jet Song)".
    UFO Conspiracy Theories:
In the 1980s, Lear’s life took an unexpected turn. He began speaking about alien collusion with secret governmental forces, becoming a prominent voice in UFO conspiracy circles1.
Unlike previous theorists, Lear’s narrative went beyond unidentified flying objects. He claimed that extraterrestrial beings were actively involved with covert government operations

Fringey Mini- Stealin from the ultra rich and giving you a double header... and sand

Another Fringey Mini, another 48 hour count down to Friday.
This episode we're hitting you with the ultra rare double header mini episode about the rich. That's right, the topic that never disappoints... and this time round they're inflating things (not ballons) and one thing they can never inflate is sand? That seemed better in my head but I can't delete it now.
Anyyyyywho, my job here is done now that you have the highly sought after episode description that is made of varying words in English.
