    Oakland undergoes FBI raids, BART repairs and delays, and a mass shooting

    The FBI and the U-S Postal Service today (Thursday) carried out raids at the homes and offices of several Oakland city leaders, including Mayor Sheng Thao.

    Around 50 bullet casings were found on the scene of a brawl, at a Juneteenth party at Lake Merritt last night (Wednesday).

    This weekend, BART crews will kick off a series of repair projects aimed at replacing a series of interlockings between Rockridge, MacArthur, and 19th Street stations in Oakland.

    Organizers of a recall campaign against Oakland's mayor are celebrating today. 

    Sonoma County Sheriff's official this evening lifted all evacuation orders for those driven from their homes by the 1,200 acre Point Fire.

    Fans pay tribute to Willie Mays at Oracle Park; Point Fire is 50% contained

    The Willie Mays statue in front of Oracle Park in San Francisco has become an impromptu memorial, with fans turning up to leave flowers, notes,  baseballs, and memories. 

    New numbers are showing the summer COVID surge has begun, pointing to the strong suggestion that people get the latest vaccine. 

    Calfire is reporting the Point Fire in Sonoma County is now 50% contained, and good weather overnight has helped firefighters get a handle on this blaze, which has, so far, destroyed two homes.

    The Alameda County Registrar of Voters says the recall effort against Mayor Sheng Thao has enough verified signatures from registered Oakland voters. 

    A recent United Way of California study has found that many households aren’t able to make ends meet and one Bay Area congressman has a plan to take some of those burdens off of families' shoulders.
