Santa Barbara Amateur Radio Club Invites the Public to Annual Demo Days
There is a long and rich history behind ham radios which are crucial in emergencies. The Santa Barbara Amateur Radio Club is hosting an event this weekend to show the public what they do - and how anyone can get involved. They'll be setting up their gear along Santa Barbara's waterfront this weekend to provide a demonstration of their emergency communications abilities as part of the nationwide 2024 Amateur Radio Field Day. UCPD Conducts "Large-Scale Operation" at Previously Occupied Girvetz Hall
Beginning at 1 AM on Wednesday, June 12, police in riot gear conducted a "large-scale operation" to remove student demonstrators who had previously barricaded themselves within Girvetz Hall. KCSB's Zoha Malik has the story.

OC Judge Orders Halt to UAW 4811 Strike
An Orange County Superior Court Judge has issued a temporary restraining order against UAW 4811, effectively halting its strike that protested the UC's response to pro-Palestinian protests and encampments. To learn more, KCSB's Joyce Chi spoke to Alejandro Quevedo, an electrical engineering Ph.D. student and a UAW 4811 recording secretary.

Inside IV: Move Out Season
It's move out season in Isla Vista, when students go turn in their rental keys and go home for the summer. Learn about how residents can donate their unwanted clothing, furniture and even non-perishable food, to keep tons of stuff out of local landfills. KCSB's Brandon Yi spoke with Viviana Marsano, who heads up the annual GIVE Sale, which benefits local non-profits and provides an opportunity for students to earn community service hours.

For AAPI Heritage Month, KCSB's Elizabeth Truong spoke with Professor Alexander Cho about Asian American representation in Media. Professor Cho is the assistant director in the Asian American Studies professor at UCSB.
