410wned has a simple mission statement: we love games, and we love sharing our discussions about games with you, no holds barred. Our goal is to give you a place where you can be proud to be a gamer, or if you’re not a gamer, make you wish you were. Regardless, if you can hear our voices, you have a voice of your own…410wned. Let the games begin!
#288 Get Cyberfunked
Cyberpunk 2077 has taken over video game journalism, as we all expected. What we weren't expecting is the reason for all the talk. CDPR launched it's much anticipated game to a whirlwind of bugs and issues, completely shattering its glistening facade. CDPR hasn't helped themselves much in this situation, issuing an apology while simultaneously directing gamers to pursue refunds if they were unhappy. A decision that we suspect caused Sony to respond by pulling the game completely from the PlayStation Store. Other stuff happened this week which 410wned does discuss, but let's face it, Cyberpunk 2077 is all anyone is really talking about, good or bad. Jackie Fingaz and Kevin detail their experiences with the game, and speculate on whether this could have gone differently. Bone apple teeth!
#287 The Video Game Awards 2020
Even though this year has been quite undesirable, we still got some really good games out of it. Enter The VGA's, with tons of new reveals and first looks. Jackie Fingaz and Kevin give their impressions on all the games down during the stream, with some special excitement regarding The Callisto Protocol. Of course, Cyberpunk 2077 is equally important, and while it had a less than ideal launch there's plenty to talk about. Kevin recounts his first few hours with CD Project Red's newest time-sink, while Jackie Fingaz talks about his first platinum trophy with Ghost of Tsushima. Let's get going.
#286 Update Pending
The holiday season is here, which is usually good news for gamers. Not all is well in the world of video games, however, as Ubisoft can attest to. The UK is experiencing issues updating their physical copies of Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion from PS4 to PS5, with no date for a fix. Next gen console scalpers face backlash from eBay for their nefarious practices of selling photos of PS5 systems and/or their boxes for ludicrous amounts of money. Modders make the unexpected discovery that Xbox Series S consoles make good PS2 emulators, and CD Project Red details how Cyberpunk cross saves work. Spoiler alert, it's easier on Xbox. Jackie Fingaz and Kevin bring you another week of games from the 410.
#285 Happy Thanksgaming
The next generation of consoles has barely broken infancy, yet there appears to be no time wasted whatsoever in regard to the future of games. Sony CEO Jim Ryan hints at the possibility of Sony implementing a service to compete with Xbox Game Pass, while Phil Spencer takes it even further with an Xbox app for smart TVs that allow Xbox game streaming without a console, and speculates we could see the app within a year. Spencer laid out some details, albeit a little generic, on how developers get paid when their games appear on Game Pass. The head of Xbox also addresses a long standing issue in the industry which he dubs "console tribalism", or as we understand it, The Console War. Jackie Fingaz and Kevin wish you all the best this holiday season and share some of their gaming adventures this past week. Eat up and game on!
#284 All The Twos
With the new generation underway we are already seeing cross gen releases hit the market. Games such as Call of Duty, Madden, NBA 2K21 and more boast enhancements aplenty as they aim to wow gamers with features "only possible with this technology". There are still issues however, like CoD accidentally defaulting to the PS4 version when playing on PS5. On the bright side, Sony CEO Jim Ryan confirms that first party PS5 games are being built from the ground up to maximize the potential of the new hardware. Oxford University concludes video games are good for your mental health, Cyberpunk 2077 requires 70 GB minimum of storage space on last gen, and Xbox wants Bethesda games to go Daft Punk on their platform. Oh, and Jackie Fingaz and Kevin played stuffs. Enjoy!
#283 Storage Wars
The next generation of console gaming has begun!! But it sort of doesn't matter because last gen is still quite relevant. Sony execs believe the transition from PS4 to PS5 is likely to take two to three years, while Xbox is focusing on delivering games no matter which version of Xbox you own. Jackie Fingaz and Kevin discuss the opening days of the new generation, and how much different it is to previous releases despite many similarities. With the size of install files continuing to increase, many next gen owners will feel some growing pains very soon. 410wned covers the available storage capacity of the new consoles, and what it will cost to expand that limit. Neither Fingaz nor Kevin were able to secure a new console as of yet, but there's still games to talk about!
