The Attempted Murder & Disappearance of Martha Martinez Maxwell Gone Cold - Texas True Crime

    • True Crime

In April of 1987, authorities in Carter County, Oklahoma found a Watauga, Texas woman on the side of the highway barely clinging to life. She was bound with duct tape, severely beaten, and covered in the blood that had poured from the slit in her throat. The woman was Martha Martinez Maxwell. After doctors at Dallas’s Parkland Hospital saved her life, she dropped charges on the man who’d left her for dead 100 miles from home – her husband, Jeffrey Allan Maxwell. The man, too, manipulated Martha into reconciling with him. Five years later, Martha went missing under suspicious circumstances. And Jeffrey Allan Maxwell’s further crimes, at least some of them, landed him in prison for life 20 years later. The man is suspected, too, in other unsolved Texas disappearances and homicides.
