Welcome to Get On The Track! In our Get On The Track podcast series we would like to share with you the experiences and challenges of our customers. In this podcast episode, we will jump into the track construction of a Metro project in extreme climatic conditions.

For track construction companies these project types will throw many challenges during the phases of preparation and execution. High and low air temperatures and high humidity as well as possible heavy rainfalls must be considered whilst finding the best timing for the project planning regarding concrete pouring of the ballast less tracks as well as for the rail welding.

In this first podcast you will hear a story about a common problem in metro tunnels:  the problem of water ingress to the track infrastructure. For many metro operators the challenge is to keep a very old network alive. They are looking for a suitable solution for the refurbishment of worn-out bi-block slab track systems with a need to realize the replacement during very short possession times.



Let me introduce you to the main character of our story: Tim.

Tim is Chief Inspection Engineer and today he is on his monthly inspection tour in a metro tunnel in his hometown. He is responsible for inspecting the track infrastructure to ensure safety and operational capability. His company unit conducts frequently inspections of tracks as well as stations and line structures.
