    Charlotte Bay Girls - Giselle

    Charlotte Bay Girls - Giselle

The sound of shattering glass woke Giselle up in terror. Disoriented, she sat up and looked around, blinking hard to focus her sleepy eyes at her surroundings. Where was she?
Again, she jumped as a crash of thunder echoed in the eeriness of the night.  With a trembling hand she reached for her bedside lamp but her hand touched emptiness.
A flash of lightning lit the room, jolting her sleepy brain to think. Oh, it was grandma’s house. And why was she wet?
A cool splatter of raindrops slapped her arms and legs. Oh yeah. She remembered leaving the window wide open to drown the stifling heat of the summer months. Now, rain forced its way into the cosy room. Trembling a little, she scrambled out of bed and darted to close the window.
Ouch! She yelped as something sharp stabbed her little toe. Blindly she banged it shut and limped across the room to turn the light on. A sudden explosion of thunder reverberated through the house, and terror stricken, Giselle crouched over, covering her ears, unable to move or reach for the light switch. God please make it stop! She thought.
Another outburst boomed through the house. Get a grip! Heart pounding and tears threatening to spill, she crawled to the door, fumbling with the door knob until she managed to swing it open. The faint glow of the nightlight in the corridor greeted her thumping heart, her quivering legs miraculously holding her up as she ran to Sophie’s room for safety.
“Soph, Soph!”Giselle cried as she burst into her cousin’s room and switched the light on.
“What! What?” Sophie sat up and rubbed the sleep of her eyes as another clap of thunder resonated through the house, causing Giselle to cover her ears and shut her eyes.
“The storm!” She squeaked wanting the nightmare to end!

    Deceived

    Deceived

    She was created
    She was perfect
    She was loved
    She believed a lie
    She sinned
    Her punishment… death.....
"A soft, caressing hiss snapped my attention back to the tree. It was still there. Since when do snakes stare? For some reason I couldn’t look away. It fascinated me to see a creature with such obvious intelligence, almost looking like it wanted to say something. I looked back at Adam who was still involved with the horses, oblivious to my discovery. Slowly I made my way to the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The serpent’s call was sweet to my ears. I closed my eyes and followed the sound.
“Did God really say you must not eat from any tree in the garden?”
My eyes flew open and my mouth formed a silent O. It talked!
“Well?” his voice, soft and melodious, made me tremble.
    Breathless, I nodded.
“Speak, my pretty.” He whispered, stretching towards me so that his cold breath tickled my cheek.
“God said we could eat from the trees in the garden, but we mustn’t eat from this tree or we’ll die!”
His silvery laugh sent cold shivers up my spine.
    “Die? You won’t die!”
My eyes rounded. Is this serpent implying that God might lie to us? Never."

    The Power of Prayer

    The Power of Prayer

“Suddenly Lorena lost her footing and fell into the rapid waters of the river. Mae’s heart lurched and she screamed in distress. Her first reaction was that she had to save her! Her sister was drowning! Lorena’s head popped up and down and at times Mae lost sight of her.
With tears streaming down her face Mae didn’t think and jumped into the murky waters and furiously swam towards her sister. Nothing mattered but to reach her. The strong current kept pushing back any advancement she made.
Finally panting in exhaustion Mae reached Lorena and in that instance saw the despair, panic and anguish in Lorena’s eyes. She was drowning and she knew that she was going to die in that water. Suddenly Lorena grabbed onto Mae and started pushing her under so she could grab a breath of air."

    DON'T LOOK BACK

    DON'T LOOK BACK

“As I draw closer, the music I had heard outside the city gates is getting louder, as is the laughter. The air fills with profanities and, when I round the corner, I blush at the scene that greets my eyes. I try to look away but find it’s not easy. A very handsome man walks towards me, his smile sensual and eyes burning with fire. He grabs my hand and whispers in my ear. My heart starts thumping in my ribs and I shake my head no. Lot has never said such things to me!
A tinge of excitement and panic seizes me and I begin to hurry. Men and women of all ages are unleashing their passionate desires right in front of my eyes. Music, laughter and depravity are mixing into one loud cacophony of sound and I’m desperately hurrying home. Maybe coming through Market Square was not such a wise idea after all. Several men stare and shout perverse words my way, but I’ve started running. Maybe not because I’m scared as much as because I’m tempted to stay….
Finally, breathless and a little shaken, I reach home, open the door and hurry upstairs to my bedchamber. I throw myself on my bed, take off my head scarf and exhale. My mind is swirling, I don’t understand how I’m feeling. Maybe I am a woman of Sodom after all? The pleasures of this town are attractive to me. How did I not realise this before?”

    REDEEMED

    REDEEMED

I was half naked and clutched tightly to the piece of filthy sheet that I had hastily grabbed to cover my body. Brutal men were dragging me along the duty narrow alley-ways of Jerusalem.
My feet burned as they scraped along the bumpy ground and tears stung my eyes. I gasped in pain, their thick fingers digging into my soft flesh. I was scared - where were they taking me?

    THE KING OF KINGS

    THE KING OF KINGS

"A sudden furious screech echoed in the early morning and the earth seemed to tremble from the sound.
From behind some dark tombs a crazy man charged towards them. Parts of broken chains hanged from his ankles and wrists.
His flesh was ripped and bleeding from cutting himself with sharp stones. The mans eyes glared from underneath his crazed, knotted, messy hair.
He didn’t look like a human at all but like a wild beast ready to kill.
With teeth gnashing, and foaming at the mouth, he charged towards Jesus and the disciples......"
