Ivey League: KD Hill and finding gratitude in the midst of fire Talk of Champions

    • Sport

Former Ole Miss defensive tackle KD Hill isn't even a year removed from the car accident that cost him his right leg below the knee.
Actually, surgeons performed the amputation while Hill was still in the car. His football career was over in an instant and after Hill had been readying for the NFL.
He’d put forth strong showings in minicamps with the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills, resulting in a contract with the XFL’s Orlando Guardians.
“I knew that God had better plans for me,” Hill said, in an exclusive sit-down with the ‘Ivey League,’ a podcast powered by the Ole Miss Spirit and RiverLand Roofing.
Hill, the 2022 Chucky Mullins Courage Award winner, has since gone on to become a motivational speaker.
He recently launched his foundation.
Hill redshirted his as an Ole Miss freshman year but eventually went on to play in 45 games. He had 56 tackles, four tackles for loss and a sack.
“I look better than ever,” Hill said. He joined host Jared Ivey, a third-year star Ole Miss defensive lineman and Hill’s former teammate.
“Can you find gratitude while you’re going through the midst of your fire? Can you be thankful for the things God has already done for you? Because the position you are in now, you’ve been praying for that.
“But, also, can you know that His plans are always better than ours? Because they are. That’s why I’m sitting here today. It hasn’t been a full year (since the accident) and I look better than ever.”
