I was born and raised in Kyoto, Japan. I came to the United States about three decades ago to escape sexism. I had been told during the entire my childhood that because I am a girl, I did not need education and did not have to get a career. All I wanted was to make a choice for myself. I arrived here in the US without knowing anyone. The only person I knew was someone whom had never met and I corresponded via letters. She picked me up at LAX and my adventure in the US has begun. Fast forward, I have spent over 20 years as a CPA in the public accounting and in 2018, I have stated a mobile company called Task-K I. Task-K I is an adaptation of a Japanese word that means to collaborate or help each other and the app does exactly that. Task-K I is a business driven by compassion and builds a community for working parents around their childcare provider where everyone got everyone's back. The app has three main functions; 1) be a hero function: Parents can sign out each other's child from their childcare when they are running later with one click of button, 2) Let's talk about it function: Parents can communicate each other and encourage and exchange parenting tips, 3) You are worth it function: When a parent helps another parent, she or he can earn points and exchange for services offered by other parents. I am very passionate about building communities. One of the projects that Task-K I has involved back in Dec 2020 was called "15-day community give back challenge." In this challenge, we asked our local community in Skyway " What can we do to help you to day " for 15 straight days and did our best to fulfill each request at the best we could (from stacking firewood for a elderly couple, a cutting our own tree to used as a Christmas tree, purchasing Christmas dinner ingredients for a family of eight, etc.) For 2012, we have begun another challenge and this is called "Task-K I Pay-it-Forward Program." We select a few retail businesses with store front each month and donate a small amount of money (typically $100 to $200) and purchase gift cards which we ask the businesses to give to their customers along with a card that we made to encourage their customers to support their businesses and pay-it-forward.
