Kanako Matsumoto from Task-KI on creating a childcare "village," escaping conformist Japan, a two-piece $99 wedding dress and a magician‪.‬ I interviewed 162 women during one year of COVID by Erin Keam

Kanako says:
I was born and raised in Kyoto, Japan. I came to the United States about three decades ago to escape sexism. I had been told during the entire my childhood that because I am a girl, I did not need education and did not have to get a career. All I wanted was to make a choice for myself. I arrived here in the US without knowing anyone. The only person I knew was someone whom had never met and I corresponded via letters. She picked me up at LAX and my adventure in the US has begun. Fast forward, I have spent over 20 years as a CPA in the public accounting and in 2018, I have stated a mobile company called Task-K I. Task-K I is an adaptation of a Japanese word that means to collaborate or help each other and the app does exactly that. Task-K I is a business driven by compassion and builds a community for working parents around their childcare provider where everyone got everyone's back.
