The triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem is pivotal. It's the time for Jesus to demonstrate his identity as the long-awaited Messiah, the Son of God. However, Jesus surprises everyone. Instead of veering towards the fortress, he takes a different path, turning left through the eastern gate and into the Temple. His actions are deliberate and calculated. Upon entering, he surveys the surroundings, taking it all in. According to Mark's gospel, he then leaves but returns the next day, engaging in what can only be described as prophetic theater, echoing the spirit of Jeremiah.
