On June 30th, the IIF hosted our first ever event dedicated to central banking - Central Banking in the Age of COVID-19.

Managing Director and Chief Economist of the IIF, Robin Brooks, joins The Big Questions again this week to discuss what he sees as a "painful and slow" US labor market recovery post-COVID-19. Robin has written extensively on the topic recently, projecting US unemployment of 11 percent end-2020 and 8 percent end-2021.

IIF President and CEO, Tim Adams, joins The Big Questions again this week, for a conversation with Ravi Menon, Managing Director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore and as Tim describes him - "one of the most recognizable thought leaders of central banking and finance in the 21st century." The two discuss the impact of the COVID-19 in Singapore, the associated risks, and policy responses. 

Philip Lane, Chief Economist, European Central Bank, spoke with Tim Adams, IIF President and CEO, at the IIF's virtual European Conference on Tuesday, May 26th. During the session, the two discussed the the large package of policy measures to fight the COVID-19 health and economic crisis rolled out in Europe, the region’s economic outlook, and prospects for normalization of economic activity.
