Woo Woo in The Real World is a show that focuses on how we coax our soul into embodied action and cultivate joy. This could be through working with a healer, performing a ritual, reading tarot, consulting an astrologer, communing with nature, writing a song, writing a one-woman show, or just slowing down and taking a bath! The ways we woo are as varied as the humans on the earth and how we’re transformed by those experiences and integrate them into the real world is as unique as a fingerprint.

Hosts Tami McCarthy & Becki Davis are on a mission to normalize woo-woo experiences of spirit so that more people will tap into and trust their inner wisdom. They believe that sharing stories is one way to do that.

Frederick Buechner says it best in his memoir, Telling Secrets: “My story is important not because it is mine, God knows, but because if I tell it anything like right, the chances are you will recognize that in many ways it is also yours.”

We’re more alike than we are different. Perhaps a little more Woo Woo in The Real World can help us move past fear and better connect to ourselves and to those around us so that we can do our part to help heal the world.

Conversations of the Heart with Artist Tricia Caracappa

Conversations of the Heart with Artist Tricia Caracappa

In this episode, we dive deeper into what it’s like to truly live your life with no rules, just freedom. We explore answers to questions like what if you allowed curiosity and play to take over? What if all stress and pressure didn’t exist and you were allowed to flow with ease, delight, joy and rest?

Our guest, artist Tricia Caracappa reflects how painting for her is all of that from the moment she steps in front of a blank canvas, and that an intoxicating dance unfolds.  But it wasn’t always like that for her - she takes us on her journey - where as a young college graduate she turned down getting her masters degree for Architecture to get a job (like all her friends were doing), and started her career in the corporate finance world. She says, “she liked math and was good at it” but she wasn’t really consciously choosing that path. Yet, she became successful, although not fulfilled. Tricia reveals how a lot of soul work led her to becoming an interior designer, and ultimately an artist. She shares that once she stopped all the people pleasing, and remembered who she was, that she wanted to live her life more authentically…and joyfully – even if it meant making some gut-wrenching decisions and choices to alter the course of her life.

As someone who lives with the intention to cultivate joy, she takes us into her world on how that actually happens and how the early lessons also serve her today. It’s an inspiring and uplifting story – we hope it inspires you to explore what your heart wants you to know, and perhaps even take a step into uncharted territory leading you to your more authentic self!

    Enjoy.

Working with the Unseen World with Perdita Finn

Working with the Unseen World with Perdita Finn

There are times in life we experience what our guest, Perdita Finn, calls a “narrowing” - when suddenly something happens and we have very limited options or directions to go in. One of those times for Perdita was when her daughter became seriously ill. She and her husband spent all their money going down a rabbit hole to help get her better, and then lost their jobs and nearly lost everything. “In those moments, you learn about prayer,” she shares. Perdita had been having profound spiritual experiences her whole life, but she had a difficult childhood with narcissistic, atheist parents so she was never allowed to fully embrace her gifts.

This episode features one of the most fascinating, jaw-dropping conversations we’ve had yet, where we tackle a topic we haven’t covered: getting to know the dead. “What if we could live in a world where the guidance of those who were gone was available, right at our fingertips?” That’s the question on the dust cover of “Take Back The Magic: Conversations with the Unseen World,” written by our guest, Perdita Finn.

“When you work with the dead,” Finn says, “you begin to touch what I call ‘the long story of our souls.’

Check out the full conversation with Perdita as she shares incredible insights on how we can call on those who have gone before us to help with everyday life.

We had a hard time ending the conversation, because we could literally listen to Perdita, her stories and her wisdom for days! Let us know what you think.

Perdita Finn is an author whose extensive studies with zen masters, priests, rabbis, shamans, and healers have informed her writing and work as teacher of the popular workshop, “Getting to Know the Dead,” in which participants are empowered to activate the magic in their own lives with the help of their ancestors.

Navigating a Dark Night of The Soul with Pam Hervey

Navigating a Dark Night of The Soul with Pam Hervey

It’s easy, and even a little fun, to talk about life when it’s firing on all cylinders. When you’re in alignment and things just flow. But what does it look like when the machine of your life starts to sputter, when you can’t see how all the pieces of your life make sense together, and when you feel lost?

Everyone is invited to cross the transformational threshold into the second half of life but not everyone does. It’s a hard journey and involves a dark night of the soul.

Today’s guest, Wellness Coach, singer and badass drummer, Pam Hervey navigated that journey and is on the other side to tell the tale. We’re talking about how she was able to hold the tension in the limbo land of liminal space where she knew she was being called to do more but had no idea what that was.

This is an episode about the interplay between our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness and how honoring all the parts of who we are brings us joy that then ripples out into the world.

Our Sacred Mission with Demitra Vassiliadis

Our Sacred Mission with Demitra Vassiliadis

How can astrology invite us into the world of sacredness? And how can it can steer us back to sanity? That’s what we’re talking about with today’s guest, Demitra Vassiliadis, a spiritual astrologer, who believes that we’re all here by divine design. Demitra is an expert in exploring the birth chart as a sacred blueprint to the most natural unfolding of our development and unique potential. She says, “birth charts are a map of gorgeous potential that we came here to embody as we give our shining gifts to the waiting world.”
She’s helped thousands of people decipher their birth chart and unlock the cosmic map that describes them, their talents and abilities they’ve been given to accomplish on their sacred mission. We all have a role to play and a responsibility to create a culture that we want to live in.  We bet that by the end of this episode you’ll be saying, “I am a sacred being sent by the universe with unrepeatable gifts to do only what I can do.” This interview is so inspiring and clarifying.
    Let’s get after it!!
Demitra will be appearing at The Soulful Lounge on February 22nd with holistic nutritionist Meredith Geller for a fascinating workshop on how astrology and nutrition are interconnected. They will share with us how we can harness the power of the planets, stars, and food to optimize vitality, and we will also have a very special New Moon Ceremony together.
