Keeping The Conversation Going with Chris Corona

Keeping The Conversation Going with Chris Corona

Photographer - Cyclist - Father - Santa Crus local - Chris Corona is finding purpose and truth with one image at a time. With his love for the bicycle and exploring roads and trails, Chris's photography and words resonate past the images. His technique is organic, authentic, and comes alive at the intersection of purpose.

In his recent project - a series of half portraits - Chris is sending a message one photo at a time: We Are Not Whole Until We Are All Whole. Chris wants to remind us to stay involved with events that are happening in our country and communities, to speak up, to take action, and to keep the disenfranchised at the forefront of our minds and at the top of our feeds.

Speaking with Chris is like speaking with an old friend - our conversation dives into the pandemic and the dynamics with our family and the process of moving forward. We discuss the inequities of our culture and racism and how vital it is to not stop talking - that we are at full momentum right now - let's keep going.

Interestingly - but actually very fitting our conversation moves toward a spiritual tone with discussions of awakening and how we respond over the coming years will dictate what we leave behind for our children.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did and that it may inspire you to stay engaged - to expand your understanding and your heart as well.

Greg Erwin on Rock' n Roll and Bicycles

Greg Erwin on Rock' n Roll and Bicycles

I welcome musician and drummer of Saint Motel Greg Erwin. Drummer – photographer – writer – cyclist – son – and friend to many Greg embodies humor and ease during todays conversation. When the pandemic fully hit locking down many - Saint Motel had just finished their last show - wrapping up a tremendously successful tour.

Saint Motel has stayed true to their direction as they continue to creatively produce their own work. Greg recounts his early days prior to meeting his band - growing up racing motorcycles to racing his bicycle in local criteriums to honing his music prowess all in between. Moving at the young age of 21 to southern California Greg made the conscious decision to give the band life a go. After countless auditions Greg took a chance and answered a Craigs List Ad for Drummer Wanted. After listening to their music Greg instantly knew – this was the one. Required to come to the audition knowing 2 of their songs – Greg came to the audition knowing all of their songs. Rest is history. Saint Motel was born. The Band formed a bond and has since grown with each other.

We shift gears – to discuss Greg’s touring days – from a single Van toting them across the U.S to a full-on touring bus. Once the touring bus appeared – Greg took solace with the space and made it a habit to bring his bicycle on tours. His fondness for community, and the bicycle led Greg to pre-show bike rides and he even began to send out invites to join him as he explored new areas. And as we discussed – A Saint Motel Cycling Kit – just might be in the works.

Perseverance – continued creativity – has been in Greg’s DNA from the start. My aspiration with this conversation is that you may find the joy and humor with Greg – that you find yourself listening to music a little more – and engage with your community a little more as Greg has brought Rock n’ Roll and the bicycle together.

A special thank you to Greg! A huge shout out to Gregs mom for her kindness!

Also - Vision Photography Studios for the captured image!

    Enjoy!
