    The New York Lady Balls

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.
This week, we begin by discussing the awful past week in Mets baseball, including Edwin Díaz seeming lost on the mound. We also talk about the latest roster moves, Steve Cohen’s tweets, and Kodai Senga’s latest setback.
Next, we try to make ourselves feel better by talking about other organizations who are even worse than the Mets, such as the Angels. We also talk about men continuing to be weird about women’s sports.
Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.
You can listen or subscribe to all of our wonderful Home Run Applesauce podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show. It really helps! More guys are moving up

    More guys are moving up

Welcome to From Complex to Queens, Home Run Applesauce’s podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system.
After a literal joke of a PET segment, we move on to our draft follows and the two recent mock drafts from BA (a staff draft) and MLB. The team is mostly fine with Slade Caldwell slotting in at 19 in the BA version, but were less than please with Dakota Jordan at 19 in the MLB iteration. Only two more months of speculation to go!
Moving on to actual happenings in the organization, we spent a good long while discussing the promotions of Ryan Clifford and Brandon Sproat as well as the non-promotions of Nolan McLean and Blade Tidwell. Oops, just kidding, both McLean and Tidwell got promoted right after we finished recording. That’s what we get for recording early this week.
As always, you can listen or subscribe to all of our Home Run Applesauce podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show. It really helps! And you can find us on Spotify, or listen wherever you get podcasts.

    No-zempic

    No-zempic

Grace is back with another episode of Flushing is Burning. It’s been a long, not fun week for the Mets. The offense has been quiet and the bullpen shaky. Grace gets into Díaz’s troubles so far, Pete’s signs of life (and McNeil’s signs of none), and the fact that this is probably just going to be the season vibes: periods of highs followed by the most annoying, depressing losses.
Next, Grace gets into two hot topics. First, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker had a lot to say about hot-button topics, and all of it was stupid. Grace breaks down the ridiculousness of these modern “tradcaths” and how positions like these continue to keep athlete’s in the closet and feeling unsafe in the locker room. Next, she gets into her annoyance at the wealthy’s love for Ozempic (and other drugs like it). Real people need these drugs for actual health issues and they can’t get them because rich people want a shortcut to losing weight.
Finally, Grace has a movie minute of a decades old movie that still feels relevant. She also discusses the legacies of the great filmmakers who are now closer to the ends of their careers than the beginnings.

This week, we begin by discussing this past week in Mets baseball, which was up and down but ended on a high note with a walk-off win. We also talk about some injury updates, a reported contract extension offered to Pete Alonso in the offseason, and more.
Next, we draw the contest winners for our Baseball for All fundraiser and complain about New Era not offering floral hats in women’s sizes.
Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.
