Bio:

After having shot/edited a YouTube video that sits at over 4 million views and a couple of his films premiering in film festivals, Moses Akempta enters the next stage of the creative journey.

The native New Yorker utilizes the education he forged through a combination of a Communications degree at Pace University, his early film experiences, and a community amassed by attending Adorama live demos into an adaptive style of guerilla shooting/filmmaking that illustrates aspects of the human experience while immersing audiences into his projects.

Akempta notably brings this skillset to collaborations like Seeing Glory, ALT+erred, The Return of Brian Willing, as well as Behind the Varnish, a self-produced, no budget documentary.

He is currently wrapping up post production on a short film called The Recipe as he continues to lend his talents as Director of Photography/Editor with Not Your Momma’s History in addition to shooting/editing videos for a local medical facility.

While open to collaborating with other filmmakers on the right project, Akempta desires to curate/direct a compilation of short films that individually explore a different theme of life before progressing to directing his own feature films.

After beginning with his solo directorial debut, Subsist, he intends to follow this up with Estranged [projected to begin production in 2024] and Wool, a short film that will double as a loving tribute to his late father.
