Law and Crime author series, writer Kevin Flynn, Rock Creek a novel.

Part murder mystery, part political thriller, Rock Creek is an epic work of historical fiction set in Washington, D.C. It's the most important city in the world in 1952, but at its heart it's still a small Southern town deeply divided along race and class boundaries. With big themes, bigger characters, and enduring spirit, Rock Creek expertly weaves an evocative tale in small, ineffable moments, telling the story of what happens to those who try to cross D.C.'s dividing lines. Emily Rose is a beautiful Capitol Hill staffer with a tragic past, rooted in the Holocaust, that she can never quite seem to escape. She's dumped and abandoned in Rock Creek Park, a lush urban wilderness with its own haunted history. Shane Kinnock is a homicide detective at the lowest point of his life and career, still shell-shocked from the war and scarred by loss. He sees the prospect of redemption in the mystery of Emily's death, but he'll find that her story draws him close to insanity. Race and intolerance, injustice and protest, publishing and politics, sex and ambition, gambling and government: Rock Creek brings to life a time and place that are so distant, yet still seem so close. In advance of its 2024 publication, Rock Creek has been praised by James Grady, author of Six Days of the Condor, David Swinson, author of The Second Girl, and Andy Kroll, author of A Death on W Street: The Murder of Seth Rich and the Age of Conspiracy.

Memorial Day: Honoring those who served to defend our freedoms.

Memorial Day: Honoring those who served to defend our freedoms.

On Memorial Day, we honor our fallen heroes and remember the sacrifices made by our Veterans and service members in defending our freedom. These individuals share a deep love and loyalty for our country and have sacrificially chosen to lay their lives on the line in a myriad of different ways to protect our nation.

While we know that remembrance and honor should not ever be contained to a singular day, we do want to pause and thank each and every one of you for the service and sacrifices you have made to defend our freedoms. We are forever grateful for your choice to serve—we know this service comes at a cost—and although our recognition cannot fully encapsulate the gratitude we hold for your sacrifices, we want you to know they will never be forgotten.

Today and every day, we honor our fallen heroes, and we honor you.

We know that today is a heavy day, as we honor, remember, respect and grieve those who have lost their lives in military service defending the United States of America. We reflect on those brave and selfless individuals today with solemn gratitude.

New evidence revealed in the Kansas Moms case, evidence in freezer

New evidence revealed in the Kansas Moms case, evidence in freezer

It didn’t take very long for the Texas County Sheriff’s Office in Oklahoma to identify the suspects in the March killings of two Kansas women, according to search warrants released Thursday. The bodies of Jilian Kelley and Veronica Butler were discovered in a chest freezer buried in a cow pasture, according to the documents. Butler and Kelley were traveling to a supervised visit between Butler and her children. Kelley was to be a court-ordered monitor during the visit. The kids were staying with their grandmother, Tifany Adams, who is one of five people being held on first-degree murder charges. Authorities believe the killings stem from a bitter custody fight between Kelley and Adams, the mother of the children’s father. Kohberger defense asks for phone evidence hoping to support alibi The documents say Adams had plotted to kill Butler for at least a month and had even staked out Butler’s home in Hugoton, Kansas. Also revealed was the fact the victims’ phones were discovered in a pickup truck owned by Cole Twombly, another of the suspects in the deaths. Investigators also found white cloth gloves and DNA evidence, said the documents. (News Nation
