At the Penumbra, you might follow Juno Steel, a brooding, sharp-witted private eye on Mars, as he tangles with an elusive homme fatale, tracks dangerous artifacts of an ancient alien civilization, and faces his three greatest fears: heights, blood, and relationships.

Or you might enter the world of the Second Citadel, where the merciless Sir Caroline must corral a team of emotionally distraught all-male knights to defend their city against mind-manipulating monsters...even the ones they’ve fallen in love with.

These audio dramas and more await you in the Penumbra, dear traveler. We hope you enjoy your stay. (Start with "1.01: Juno Steel and the Case of the Murderous Mask" or "1.09: Second Citadel - The Head of the Janus Beast.")

5.22: Juno Steel and the Thief's Honor (Part 1)

5.22: Juno Steel and the Thief's Honor (Part 1)

It's difficult to stay sane while you're in two simultaneous life-or-death situations, but Juno Steel is doing his best. With the Ruby 7 psychically splitting his attention between two places -- one where he is imprisoned and experimented on by Dokana executives; another where Nureyev must argue to save Juno's life -- things are looking pretty grim. And with each passing day, the executives draw closer to isolating what they need from Juno... which means that each day, they draw closer and closer to disposing of him entirely.
Welcome to the Penumbra, dear Traveler. We hope you enjoy your stay.

    5.21: Second Citadel--The Fall (Part 2)

The Second Citadel has stood, tall and proud, in the Northern Wilds for centuries. It is the bastion of humanity in the region, a settlement carved out from an unforgiving land. No matter what happens, you must remember this: there are people who call it home, people who love it, people who have never known anything but it.

5.18: Juno Steel and the Terrible Waste (Part 1)

Out in the furthest reaches of the Milky Way float piles of things best left forgotten: trash, refuse, the runoff and leftovers of a society that wants too much and produces too much. What better place, then, to put an impossible dream: that dead bodies, what we leave behind when we eventually exit life, might start to walk and talk and love again?
The Dokana group has chosen one of these trashteroids as their place to dream this dream. But be careful: it doesn't take much for a dream to become a nightmare.

never laughed harder when listening to a podcast

I started listening to the Penumbra Pod with no expectations, just saw someone recommend it online and thought: “why not?”. I spend a lot of time traveling so I decided to try it out and Oh. My. God. Nobody warned me about how attached to the characters I would grow and how enraptured with their stories I would be, and it’s honestly ridiculous because now I’ll be trying to go on about my day when suddenly I’m hit with a random “How is Juno doing today?” Ruined me forever and I can’t be even mad about it. It’s brightened my mood so many times I can never stop being grateful that I found it, so if you’re still debating whether to start it or not: what are you even doing??! Go listen to it right now!!!! Also, the quality of the show itself is amazing and every episode shows just how hard everyone on the team works to be able to share the story with us. The Penumbra is probably my favorite podcast so far and I recommend it to everyone!!!

blueprintmanatee ,

amazing

captivating right from the first episode, masterfully constructed atmosphere of mystery and eeriness, just really really great!

Derayva ,

Absolutely beautiful

This podcast consists of stories from everywhere and everywhen. Sometimes it’s a series, sometimes it’s a standalone.
I am up to date with all the episodes so far and my inability to binge it anymore is almost as heartbreaking as certain plot points. If you are anything like me don’t listen to this podcast in public places, because, trust me, you will freak out several times an episode. Screaming into the void is my general hobby and this work of art provides inspiration for exactly that and lots more. It’ll also inspire you to create your own thing.
The stories are heavy in science fiction, fantasy and medieval stuff and yet they seem so real. How do you even achieve that? Wow, it’s so amazing, really.
The creators know exactly what viewers need to enjoy a story, what viewers love about their stories, and how to balance information and mystery and that all combines into knowledge of how to steal hearts better than Peter Nureyev.
Also it’s super gay and if that’s what you’re looking for, then congratulations, you’ve found a treasure.
I wish I knew about it way sooner.
Of course I enjoyed it.
PS Rita deserves all the good there is in the world and I love her with all my heart.
